Inside the Episode #7-The cast details the adventure Ellie and Riley have in the mall and reveal its lasting impact on Ellie's journey. that Arri Alexa captures are not always my favorite, at least when compared to some other cameras that I simply seem to prefer for some reason, but The games have better acting. The voice-acting is better in them, and of course the 3D computer artists can make the 3D characters as emotive as necessary, but that is also partially creditable to the performance-capture actors themselves. When the actors, here in the show, say a line that also appears in the game, it either sounds lifeless or sounds so cheesy and makes me want to cringe, while the same effect does not happen when I'm playing the game. Ellie in the videogame version of The Last Of Us is more likely to drown any baddies in the game, or shoot them in the face, but for the show, Bella Ramsay, doesn’t look like she’ll hurt a fly. Apparently, over 100 young women were auditioned for this role, so I can’t believe there weren’t any actresses who actually looked more like her and/or were a lot more suitable.

I should have done more research on this show before I bought it. It's not canon to the games. I'm fine with recasting different actors, but they changed the story too much for me to be able to accept it. What I was hoping for it to be is a retelling of the game, but with additional stories we didn't get in the games, fleshing out the world in ways we didn't in the games -- essentially filler. When you are a big fan of the games like I am, I welcomed filler, as long as it was canon. That is not what we got here.
