If matching your radio to your decor is important to you, choosing an Evoke D2 Mio could be a good option. The Pure Evoke C-D6 is one of the more expensive radios on the market at the moment, though it’s there are several more high-end models out there. Part of the comprehensive Pure Evoke line, which also includes the C-D4 and the C-F8, the Evoke C-D6 is a mid-level all-in-one radio created with a focus on functionality and style.

The Ruark Audio R4 MK3 has a similar design to the Evoke C-D6 and offers similar features including a CD player and Bluetooth as well as FM/DAB/DAB+. The R4 MK3 has superior sound quality to the Evoke C-D6, though it is significantly more expensive. If you’re a real audiophile and want a top-of-the-range radio/CD player, the Ruark Audio R4 MK3 could be what you’re looking for. We really appreciated how immersive it felt to use this radio and the fact that we could access Bluetooth streaming as well as DAB. By the time we finished our Pure Evoke CD-6 review, it was clear to us that this radio is one that you can easily fall in love with. The Pure Evoke C-F6 has a lot going on (those CDs have to fit in somewhere), so you shouldn’t be surprised to hear it’s got some size to it, measuring in at 380 mm wide x 145 mm high x 223 mm deep and weighing just over 4kg. Evoke D4 with Bluetooth

The Evoke C-D6’s CD player has a slot-loading design so you just push the CD in rather than placing it on a tray. The CD player seems to be temperamental as many buyers have had issues with it stopping working after a few months of use, or being very slow to read CDs. On the downside, one slight performance issue we had was that the remote wasn’t always very responsive. We had to make sure we were pointing the device directly at the radio for it to work. Pure Evoke C-D6 review: Verdict The stereo has a range of control options, but if you’re not opting to use its mobile app, you’re going to spend time looking at its 2.8” color screen. It’s a TFT display type, which pales in comparison to what you’d get from a modern mobile device. But in a device that’s ostensibly to be listened to rather than looked at we thought the screen didn't negatively impact the overall experience. It times well enough, too, to make enough sense of the top of the build, with its sometimes confusing, crashing percussion. We don’t get scalpel-like precision, but enough capability to be relatively pleased with what we hear. Autotuning: Once powered on, the radio will automatically search for the available stations. Wait for it to complete an autotune, after which a station will start playing.

Pure Evoke C-D6 Review: Sensational Sound And Style Pure Evoke C-D6 Review: Sensational Sound And Style

This radio isn’t cheap, but it looks and sounds fantastic. Unlike many other DAB radios, it offers stereo sound thanks to the two built-in speakers. If you don’t mind spending a bit more to get a really top-quality product, the Evoke D6 with Bluetooth is a good buy. You can store 15 presets each for DAB and FM and these can be accessed through the corresponding buttons on the remote control. Not only do you get a product that looks nice, but you also get technology that delivers relatively good value. Some of these radios cost more than the regular Evoke D4 with Bluetooth radio, but they are a good option if matching the radio to your decor is important to you. Changing digital stations: You can change the radio’s digital stations using the remote or the front panel controls. For the remote, press the 🢨 or 🢩 button to browse through a list of the available stations and then press “Select” to choose a station. If you want to use the front panel control knob, turn the select dial right or left to scan through a list of the available stations. Push the button to change a station.

Verdict

While the Evoke C-D6 is an expensive piece of machinery – it’s also an investment in excellent audio quality. The system looks pleasant enough and offers plenty of functionality, similar to many other Pure products, like the Avalon or Siesta Rise.
