About this deal

Therefore, I recommend using OxiClean in tandem with a carpet cleaning machine. OxiClean can be mixed into yours. I have never had issues with the OxyClean turning my carpet strange colors or lightening in spots. The key with OxyClean is to use just enough. If you’re really nervous about the OxyClean, try a small area of the carpet. Conclusion Bottom line — borax and OxiClean are both highly effective and inexpensive. But if you’re on the fence, go with Oxiclean. If the stain is fresh, remove any loose particles and blot up as much of the stain as possible before treating. To clean the remaining stain, mix up a solution of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover and hot water in an unsealed container, filling OxiClean™ powder to line 1 per 16 ounces of water and pour into a squeeze bottle. Apply to saturate the stain and allow it to sit for up to 5 minutes. Do not allow it to dry. Blot with a clean white towel and repeat until the stain is gone. Make sure to rinse the area with clean water afterwards and blot dry to completely rinse away any remaining residue. {NOTE: Blotting rather than scrubbing the carpet will remove the stains and will help maintain the fibers of your carpet}. OxiClean (6 Key Differences) - Prudent Reviews Borax vs. OxiClean (6 Key Differences) - Prudent Reviews

Borax is a naturally occurring chemical compound composed of boron, sodium, and oxygen. It’s found all over the world but most commonly in dry lake beds. To test the simplest cleaning method, we stained one of the white shirts and let the stains settle in for several hours. Per OxiClean’s instructions, we then rinsed the stains with cold water before adding the shirt to the wash with a scoop (filled to line 2) of dissolved Revive. The formula is meant to be used with the hottest water temperature your clothing can handle, so we set ours to warm. Love Oxiclean. I used to soak my sons’ football and lacrosse practice pads and uniforms in the utility sink overnight. The pads inside the helmets were attached with velcro and everything had a good soak and scrub. It worked great! My parents used a mixture on their white vinyl siding to remove creosote. It worked really well on that too. When using borax for laundry, add a tablespoon of borax per gallon to warm water and pre-soak your clothes for 30 minutes. Alternatively, add ½ cup of borax to your washing machine and run the pre-soak cycle. Step 3: Rinse your carpet with the steam cleaner. I rinse one time with just hot water in the cleaner. Then I go over it a second time with a few shakes of tea tree oil in the water in the steam cleaner. Tea tree oil is a natural anti-bacterial. Just awesome. The formula varies by product, but most OxiClean products contain sodium percarbonate as the active ingredient. Although borax and OxiClean are both used as stain removers, laundry aids, and all-purpose cleaners, they have several distinct differences. The only problem is that OxiClean got my carpet too clean. On the stairs and on the former paint spot, there were sparkling white patches that made an obvious stand against the wall to wall expanse of dingy floor covering. Without any pre-treatment—other than rinsing with cold water by hand—our results weren’t great. While the butter stain completely disappeared, the rest of the stains remained (though they were slightly lighter). Borax has several uses, but it’s associated mostly with laundry. It can be used as a spot-stain remover or as a detergent aid.

But what’s the difference? When should you use each? Is one safer or more effective than the other? I’ve actually used OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover for years in my regular laundry routine. Extra stain-fighting power is always needed around here. I didn’t really realize though, how many different cleaning tasks it can be used for. I’ve been really happy with all of the results, and OxiClean™ has come to my rescue many times! The directions also claim that Revive is safe on colors. Whiteners typically aren’t color-friendly, so we definitely tested this with some trepidation. We followed the directions to a tee and our load came out just fine. We’d say that no matter what kind of clothing you wash—be it whites or colors—following the directions is the best way to protect your items. Formula and Scent: Strong on both accountsVersatile isn’t your average laundry stain remover. It’s called a stain remover powder for a reason—it works on more than laundry. The formula is designed for whites, colors, carpets, upholstery, and specific hard surfaces, so you get a lot of use out of a single cleaning product. But borax also has many other applications aside from laundry. You can use it as an all-around cleaner for kitchens and bathrooms, an odor reducer, or even a water softener. Borax is also great for eliminating bugs and weeds. NOTE: Although this mixture worked for our light colored carpet, I’m not sure about using Oxy Clean on darker colored carpets, so be sure to test it before you start just to be safe. Yes, there will be a slight vinegar odor, but it dissipates in about 24 hours time. Cleaning Expert Melissa Maker is here to help with her game-changing 3 Wave Cleaning System that will help you clean your house faster and easier than you ever thought possible! Make sure that the surface that you’re treating is always wet. In other words, be liberal with the application of OxiClean. You don’t want the solution to dry up on the surface.

Carpet With Oxiclean and Vinegar 3 Ways How To Cleaning Carpet With Oxiclean and Vinegar

Editor's Note (August 2023): This product review was originally written and published in 2020. To make sure we are still recommending the best products for your needs, we recently reviewed this story to make sure it is still accurate and that we stand by what we wrote. Despite newer models and options being available, we still feel confident that this product is one of the best choices, and therefore have included it in The Best Laundry Whiteners.Yes Ann years of scrubbing it with an abrasive will scratch the surface and make it difficult to make that pristine sheen. Sounds like you have hard water and to bad their’s not a water softer in line but that’s pricey over the years however it helps your water lines stay healthy longer as well as laundry detergent to go farther and shampoo to lather easier…vinegar is also abrasive aka caustic. I have found that every cleaner streaks, even though they advertise that it doesn’t. It’s all in the wiping. I usually use paper towels first and follow up buffing it with a micro fiber cloth as a final step. I literally buff the mirror till the streaks disappear. The 2nd wipe must be very dry & clean.
