About this deal

We pitch every tent, taking into account how long it takes, how clear the instructions are, how much physical effort is required, and how convenient the process is. If you are looking to reduce the hassle of long and complicated putting up and taking down of your tent then inflatable air beams are the way to go. Strong and stable. It is an excellent construction method that erects really fast. And why not? They claim to provide an easy way for you to plan where you're going to place your tent without having to pitch it fully, and provide an extra layer of waterproofing and insulation from the ground below.

We were looking for a weekend tent that would be large enough for the odd week here and there that could comfortably accommodate myself, my partner and our two dogs which also means a living are large enough to accommodate our double dog crate without taking up too much of the living area. The great thing about that porch is that it sits just under my Trespass event shelter. Much less expensive than the Air4 extension and quite a lot more roomy. And yes, I can erect it on my own. The Air4 and Trespass shelter are a great combination. Leave it for a few minutes for the air to escape and roll up. This can be a bit of a faff and needs to be done well so it fits in the bag. It’s a tight fit. What comes with a Berghaus Air 4? After having read a thread on a Facebook group by a designer of the new Berghaus Air tent range, we decided to take a look at what the range of tents could offer us. Pump up each beam until the pressure gauge on the pump is in the green. The supplied pump is awesome and makes this really fast and easy. It takes approx 12 pumps for a beam to inflate – less than 1 minute for each. There are two lantern hooks. A third would have been nice. Otherwise, the internal features that others have described are well thought-out so I won't repeat what has already been said. I'll be using the Velcro loops for the EHU to hold a string of solar LED fairy-lights. You'll want to ensure your tent footprint is the same size as the tent you're pitching – several manufacturers sell footprints specifically to fit certain tent models. A well-ventilated tent will make for a more comfortable, condensation-free camping experience, and well-positioned vent panels and doors with fly screens allow for the free flow of air while keeping bugs out of your sleeping space. 4) Indoor space and flexible sleeping compartments

The two 'bedrooms' are each just big enough for a double airbed and are separated by a hanging sheet. Just hope they don't snore. But I imagine it would be OK for a family of four if the kids were little. The breathable inner tent is made of 185T dark polyester which only lets in a small amount of light and lots of air. This makes it easy to get a good nights sleep. The end, or front, door has a zip down each side and rolls up to the top to stow out of the way when open. The side door has a C shaped zip and rolls up to one side when open.

This is where an air tent shines. A peg in each corner and out with the pump. A few pumps and not much effort later all the “beams” are inflated. It’s then just a matter of pegging out the guylines. Easily less than 10 minutes. Dropping your tent is a simple matter of releasing the air valves and it just collapses. No poles to unthread from their sleeves. Wind resistance and stability The porch roof that covers the tent was easy to take across the roof of the tent, as the supplied guy lines are plenty long enough to do this.

Not all tents have indoor communal spaces that can house all the campers if the weather turns, and even those that do aren't always large enough for everyone to be comfortable. Most tents have thin, collapsible poles made from fibreglass. They often fold up into a compact size and are connected by an elastic cord. They're usually flexible and will need to be bent to fit the shape of the tent canvas during pitching. After weeks of research, I realised that an inflatable tent was the best way forward for an over 60 year old solo camper, who requires a small footprint but good standing room. In the end, it was the price point and Berghaus name that swung it for me. To give you an idea of the size of the two bags together, they both fitted nicely in the boot of a Polo, and not as heavy to carry/wheel along as we expected it to be. We inspect the interiors of the tents during and after testing to see how each fares against the elements. Some tents manage to stay firm, but others blow over and even have puddles in the sleeping compartments.

Tents with rigid poles made of stainless steel or aluminium are for building a rigid frame that will keep your tent sturdy in the wind. They can be heavier and more cumbersome to pitch, though. Once the tents are up, we closely inspect the interior of each one and rate them on how likely campers are to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience that meets their needs. You can buy a footprint that goes under the tent to protect it. This is a groundsheet that is cut to be exactly the right size and shape for this tent. It comes with its own pegs and a bag. A great way to protect your investment. The main living area is large with space for 2 chairs and a table. We favour putting a chair on each corner by the inner tent and having a table in the middle. Great for relaxing, cooking or eating. There was a delay in delivery by the courier, Millets were quite helpful, and after 2or 3 days of complaining by me, I was offered a further 15% off the price of the tent for my inconvenience, so I was happy with that.
