About this deal

All of the characters are a bit plain and not really developed, but the fun I had while reading it definitely helped forgetting this. Her old enemies are now her captives and she feels successful having gathered the pieces of the map leading to the treasure of the Isla de Canta This book was a great book for a fierce heroine- confident, ambitious and cunning- Alosa will not let feelings get in the way when completing the task. She is not like a typical pirate and her own ship is pirated my mostly smart, ambitious and intuitive women.

Of course, I couldn’t make my capture look too easy. I had a part to play. Draxen and his crew can’t suspect me. Riden doesn’t return to the room until late, thinking she’s already asleep. He can tell she wants him to go to sleep, which makes him suspicious. She finally has to sing her siren song to make him obey. She learns what he wants in life is love and acceptance. Then she makes him forget it all happened. Alosa feels a burn in her chest and needs to be replenished. Only the ocean can do it. And then it always tries to get her to give in to it, which she can’t risk right now. She’s mostly human, but her mother was a siren. And Riden. A definite swoon worthy love interest. I loved the parts that had both Alosa and Riden together and it gave me so many warm feelings... *sighs* I catch the pirate before his corpse hits the ground and gently lower him the rest of the way. He is only the first of Theris’s—no, Vordan’s, I remind myself—crew who will die tonight.

Her skills as a Captain are put to the test, but there's no denying her fierce nature. Struggling to gain control of her Siren powers, she grows closer to Riden and realizes something about him being near makes her powers easier to handle. I catch the pirate before his corpse hits the ground and gently lower him the rest of the way. He is only the first of Theris's - no, Vordan's, I remind myself - crew who will die tonight Seventeen-year-old Alosa, daughter of the pirate king, is our sassy, powerhouse of a female protagonist and also the to-be queen. The fact that she gives a lot of thought before she acts keeps the readers on the edge of their seat. She is as humourous and witty as she is belligerent and well-trained. She definitely knows what she's doing and will stop at nothing to prove her worth. To put it simply, she is everything a typical pirate is expected to be, if not better.

I have twenty-eight excellent girls aboard this ship, and their pasts have shaped them. Just as yours has shaped you. And every single one of them, down to little Roslyn, deserves your respect.” Plans change. Besides, I had all of Vordan’s men piled together in one location. How could I resist blowing it up? He has nothing now.”Bottom line: I am Completely Mystified as to how this has a four star average. This is one of the worst fantasy books I’ve read in a looooong time. My girls haven’t reached the upper floors yet. Men from this floor and the one below spill into the hallway. It doesn’t take them long to spot their captain. Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map―the key to a legendary treasure trove―seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship. Alosa turns on her siren ability to sense his emotions as she searches the ship. He senses the change in her, something no one else can do. He follows and questions her as she searches. He learns about her mother and her abilities. He’s afraid she’s messed with his head and made him feel things he’s never felt before. She hasn’t at all except to put him to sleep twice. He doesn’t know whether to believe her.

Alosa as a pirate is something that you wouldn't want to cross on a bad day. She is not only loved, but respected beyond measure for her tenacity and will to win no matter what circumstances in which she might find herself. She also seems to grow quite a bit over the course of this book when she finds out more about her family and upbringing and a few things she didn't know as well. Her father might not be everything she thought he was, but cutting ties with him might be just what she needed to become everything she was meant to be. But freeing herself from the Pirate King is no easy task and it will take the whole crew to pull off this insane feat. If there is one crew who could manage it though, it would be that of the Ava Lee .When she makes it to land, she feels like she’s being trailed. It’s three girls from her ship. They’ve been following Draxen’s ship the whole time to make sure she’s safe. She sends them away with a message for her father. The most boring, flat, uncharismatic cold piece of toast ever to have the goddamn wherewithal to call himself a pirate.

The clashes between Kalligan’s army and the crew are epically portrayed that they strike your mind just like their cutlasses. The smaller of the two meets my eyes, recognizes who I am, and makes a run for it out the main entrance, just past the stairs.

Either of those two examples would be prime candidates for nemesis status. But still I held out. I think a girl always wants her first time to be with someone special. This book starts off with Alosa handing over the last piece of the map to her father and capturing Vordan who reveals something that Alosa can't quite wrap her head around, but it inevitably leads her to move against the pirate king, endangering not only her life but also that of her crew. We also witness her struggle to master the siren part of her that wants nothing more than to join the sea.
