About this deal

I just polished another bottle of this, for you folks who might be thinking you’d like to buy a bottle and are wondering what it really tastes like, because the review of it given here is, well – worthless, it’s just another bit of so much hot air, that tells you absolutely nothing. After reading it you still have no idea what you’re in for if you buy a bottle, and you know darn well after you taste it, what you taste will be nothing at all like what the reviewers have said. Everyone has to agree it has a sherried flavor, but many people would agree it taste like banana, why not a fudge pop, or a bacon cheesburger, or cherried road apples. An Cnoc 12 year old should easily fit into a nice summer evening with friends. It's a light romantic comedy such as (500) Days of Summer, without the complexity though. The 500 days aren't there in An Cnoc's favor. They're there because An Cnoc 12 was too common (not that the movie was...). Yes, over the past few years I've become a bit of a whisky snob, so please forgive me if my review of the An Cnoc 12 is a little less than upbeat. This north east distillery is actually pronounced Glen Gee - ry and stems from the Gaelic words Garbh - rough and iochd - howe (a barrow or hill) and takes its pronunciation from the local Doric dialect. A well done, but fairly standard malt, nothing to get too excited about, but nothing at all to dislike. No off notes, no harshness, but not complex or deep. Just a good, slightly above average, easy drinking malt with a very subtle smoke to it. And I mean s u b t l e. This is one that will often start an argument - even among Scots - but we are sure that even the good men of Tain will agree with our pronunciation - Glen Mor-un-jee. • READ MORE: The Scotsman’s guide to Scotch whisky pronunciation I wasn't blown away by the An Cnoc 12. It's complex, yes, but not necessarily pleasing. In other words, it doesn't "ring my bell," so to speak, whatever the hell that means. . . .

The Gaelic word means ‘the beautiful hollow by the broad bay’ - though this has been disputed with some citing that the name Laphroaig is actually derived from the Norse ‘ breid-vik’, meaning broad bay. Glen Garioch (Region: Highlands and Islands, Location: Oldmeldrum) The distillery sits at the heart of the picturesque town of Oldmeldrum This cookie is set by Rubicon Project to control synchronization of user identification and exchange of user data between various ad services. Body: Light and unfortunately watery. Upfront are bananas dipped in caramel sauce, developing into dry haw or straw, and finally some bitter notes: not citrus but woody: green sap or freshly-cut pine or birch logs. A dash of water may amp up the sweet honey character.I can’t call it balanced, but I also can’t quite say why. That amorphism is throwing me off, but it has a medium body and a cold smooth feel to it. He who says least says most. – or as they say in these here parts – “just give me the straight skinny” I had heard good things about An Cnoc 12 from couple of my whisky buddies here in Finland. For me it didn't light any sparkles, it wasn't bad either but in my opinion, it felt a bit too flat-lined throughout the tasting. It was easy to drink and it balanced nicely between sweet and spicy notes. Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA.
