About this deal

The Judgment Day issue is a bit tough to follow, not knowing the broader context of the event. However, knowing enough about what’s coming gives you enough to navigate your way through, and the really important part is the sense of desperation and danger that needs to be established. THE CALM BEFORE… After Brand's machinations and the Sins of Sinister, the mutants of Arakko are catching their breath…but even as Storm begins a new romance, she has no time to rest. Charles Xavier has questions about Magneto's death. He's not asking nicely.

I think it’s cool that Ewing differentiates the “husk” inside an egg as being the “shape” of whoever is being resurrected

Free Comic Book Day 2021: Spider-Man/Venom #1 (2021) ["Like Father, Like Son," co-written with Ram V] Storm reflects on the history they share, and it doesn’t satisfy her. Her fury remains, and Xavier will bear the brunt of it. She promises Marshall another date, before returning to Krakoa. Finally, the meat of the story: at some point, probably offscreen, Brand reminded the Skrulls of an ancient Shi'ar misdeed, so the Shi'ar and Skrull leaders meet on Arakko to hash it out. Meanwhile, Cable and some SWORD castoffs have figured out that Brand is working with Orchis, among other things, so they fly across the galaxy to have it out with one of her co-conspirators ( who happens to be one of the many Sinister clones running around).

At any rate, Power Skrull is keen for a war despite it being very unlikely that his emperor wants anything to do with it, and Vulcan – who considers that he never lost the Shi’ar throne – is more than happy to be oblige. This starts off so good omg we get to see the story of how Storm becomes the regent of Mars and what this great ring is, the politics and tension of it all and then seeing the brotherhood of Arakko form and then the stuff with Brand and her plans and I love the tension there, the fight that happens and Magneto and Fisher king's friendship and how Erik becomes a true Arakko-an which was cool to see and finally towards the end when it ties into Judgement day the book becomes just so epic and it has one of the greatest Magneto moments ever! Stefano Caselli handles the art for four of the five issues here with his usual flair, while Juann Cabal, Andres Genolet and Michael Sta. Maria handle issue 4 between them in an issue split three ways storywise as well as artistically.

In May 2007, Ewing created the comedy blog "The Diary of Ralph Dibney", writing as the titular DC Comics superhero (also known as Elongated Man), Dibney's therapist, or as the even more obscure DC Hero Richard Dragon, as they react to the events of each week's issue of the comic book 52. [4] If X-Men: Red has any one purpose, it’s establishing a true culture for the people of Arakko. As always, Ewing does the work. Mentions of Arakkii psychology, customs, and beliefs continue to be the highlight of the book. X-Men: Red is creating a distinct people, and it isn’t afraid to shy away from what that means. Both excel in depicting the various textured fabrics and outfits of the characters, as well as a number of sharply-lined sci-fi interiors and stormy (ha) skies above Arakko. Caselli in particular shines in the energy effect department, showcasing the combined lightning of Storm and Magneto in fittingly electric detail, as well as Cable’s glowing eye, Khora’s bioluminescent torso, and more. By contrast, Musabekov’s strength seems to lie in slightly reduced, more “realistic” forms and costumes. I use the quotes heavily, as there is nothing particularly realistic about aliens and mutants and the like; that being said, the way Musabekov draws Cable with functional shoulder pads of a reasonable size is a welcome touch. Similarly, Magneto’s final moments see his body as muscled but not overly so; it’s a small touch in a smaller moment, but Musabekov makes it a little more believable that Magneto is in his “prime” while still being an old man. Mastermind writer Al Ewing, known for his acclaimed work on IMMORTAL HULK, will pen an all-new X-Men book this April that will deal with both the promise and the threat that Arakko represents to the Marvel Universe. Joining Ewing will be artist Stefano Caselli whose dynamic and dramatic storytelling skills have already graced X-Men books like INFERNO and S.W.O.R.D. And providing the book’s main covers will be superstar Russell Dauterman, who also designed Storm’s stellar new costume.
