About this deal

Wilde had spent the last few months in Costa Rica, and it was time to return to his remote Ecocapsule deep in the heart of the Ramapo Mountains, in New Jersey, where he belonged in the woods alone. In this endeavor Wilde is assisted by his friends, including famous criminal attorney Hester Crimstein and Hester's sheriff boyfriend Oren Carmichael;

The setup was impeccable: one of the loveliest golf courses in the world, Cypress Point near Monterey, California. Perfect weather on a cool, sunny January day in 1956. All four played at the top of their games, blasting away at a tour course with treacherous hazardous all over the place. The worst of them finished 5 under par, and between them they had something like 2 bogeys on the day. The story flies by, it’s nonstop action. Yes, it’s convoluted. And the ending gives the reader twist after twist. I give Coben credit that I never saw any of them coming. Even if I wasn't all *heart eyes* for the romance, the interactions between Sam and Evie, and Joanna and Evie alone would've made this book worth reading :')

No single event better epitomizes this transition than the legendary match held in 1956 at beautiful Cypress Point on the California coast with outstanding amateurs, Harvie Ward and Ken Venturi facing the top pros at the time, Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan. All four were spectacular golfers and “The Match” by Mark Frost takes you through each hole of that iconic event, while exploring the personalities of the participants.

This book also features some characters from some previous Coben books, which was a lovely surprise. We learn so much more about Wilde and watch him change his thought and habits. He is a great character, so many layers. While you don’t have to have read the first book to appreciate the mystery of this one, I’d encourage you to do so to better understand Wilde and get the weight of his transformation in this one. I love the narrator as he manages to capture his personality perfectly along with so many others, including Hester, my favorite. This story has so many dimensions and the vigilante group called Boomerang was a chilling factor. As with any of the author’s stories, there are a host of red herrings and delicious twists, all providing a reason for me not being able to put this one down until I got my answers. However, there’s still more to Wilde’s story, right Mr. Coben? Please say yes. 4.5 stars

This was hard to put down. Over half way the chapters start to end with cliffhangers, it's been a while where I had the feeling where I just need to keep reading! I must praise Frost for his descriptive commentary especially on the actual match, which was almost like being there in the flesh, revelling in every shot. Someone visits Katherine, an FBI agent. She broke protocol to help Peter find his online harasser. The mystery visitor is here to tell her that he or she killed Henry. He or she asks Katherine for the other names she found. Katherine gives him the names and is also murdered. (We’re now calling this person the Mystery Killer.) Wilde learns an important new fact about Peter I'm mentally picturing Charlie & Daisy being so adorable that it makes my heart so happy. They save people's lives and it's overwhelming-how crucial their roles are to people with disabilities.
