About this deal

In The Twins we follow twin sisters Margo and Cora and their turbulent relationship. Margo is experiencing memory loss and can’t remember parts of her childhood, particularly how her little sister Annie died when they were younger. Cora appears to be trying to stop Margo from remembering the truth.

Girls just want to have fun". They light-heartedly went on a fun crime spree of sex, drugs, arson, burglary, theft around age 18 and one wonders about the parents. How could they not know? The parents could not believe the twins committed the crimes, denied this, but how could they not know? The evidence clearly proved the crimes. Aubrey, the father, suggested racial discrimination. The Lower Elements Police (LEP) Recon Unit is the fairy police's headquarters. "That's the control center for their actions on Earth," Clay said. It's also where much of the movie takes place. "So we built that as a complete set, and then it is merged into the digital world [via green screen]." A captivating and chilling story of sibling rivalry and sisterly bonds; of grief, trauma and identity. Both heart-racing and heart-wrenching. This book landed on my TBR because I was intrigued by the blurb. I requested it not because I know the author, but simply because I was intrigued. What a fabulous read it turned out to be. I have already started hunting for a copy of the author’s other book – The Prank. Reading Children’s literature is sometimes soooo wildly head turning and this was one didn’t disappoint.I like the blended family - the girls have an older half-brother from their dad's previous wife. He doesn't live with the girls but he's still a part of the family and a part of their lives. The girls are still figuring out their new dynamic when Francine decides to run for student council, and by some stroke of fate, her shy, terrified-of-public-speaking sister is also running for president. Despite the ground rules laid by their parents, things get a bit messy as both girls try to establish their personal identities while fighting to reconcile their relationship as twins and sisters.

Thrillers lovers...read this book! You won't be disappointed. Also thanks to L.V. Matthews for chatting to me about this book when I finished it I've had my eyes on Twins since last year and I never got the chance to read it. I'm so happy that I finally did and it was a clear reminder of why I love middle grade graphic novels so much. The art is always fantastic and the storylines really capture the experience of their target audience. Johnson's work was pure perfection and I'm not surprised that so many readers already love this story. The campaign was supported by the current Laureate na nÓg, Áine Ní Ghlinn and all of her five predecessors, Siobhán Parkinson, Niamh Sharkey, Eoin Colfer, P.J. Lynch and Sarah Crossan. It is the first time all six children’s laureates have united to support a campaign. This is the extraordinary story of June and Jennifer Gibbons, identical twins born in the UK in 1963 to parents of Barbadian heritage. Their lives captivated the nation and were the inspiration behind the lyrics of Tsunami by the Manic Street Preachers. Something I found interesting is that June was maybe trans but the author and all involved act like the chest binding both did and June's feelings re: being male were just part of a Peter Pan desire to not grow up.TL;DR Actually a great book. Nuanced, good character development. Pretty realistic and messy, which I appreciate. Everyone is basically a good person, despite hurting others on occasion. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to children and parents. Suitable for elementary kids. Initially all appeared to be normal with the young twins, but they were soon to withdraw from the outside world, rejecting verbal communication and speaking to each other only through their own private cryptophasia or secret language. Viewed with suspicion by their school authorities the pair were eventually sent to a special needs school.
