About this deal

This book really laid out for me the differences between the ego and the true Self and allowed me to see which was operating when in my life, mostly in myself but sometimes in others. What the Bible testifies to are special acts of God that are seen as signs of the inbreaking of God’s kingdom and rule. The most common answer was my compassion and my confidence that our working together could make a difference in their lives (and that gave me so much joy). All her childhood and teenage years she wanted to be a nun, and although she has ended up happily married with four children, she still feels inspired by the many kind nuns and religious Sisters she has met. Christ, after all, is among the humble, and his power will be found only when learn to peel our eyes away from our iphones and Tik Tok videos that imprison us in a false sense of illusionary greatness.

Keener further points out that even in the Bible, the word often translated as “miracle” really means “act of power. Coincidently, seeing me walk in with the Waterstones bag nearly gave my partner a heart attack as he had bought me books for my birthday as well. According to the Course, the world we think we navigate is really nothing more than an external projection of the mind's inner experience of repressed guilt over believing it separated from and in the process destroyed the one love we are and have never really left. The result is a book that is important not only for the historical study of Jesus and the New Testament but also for our understanding of our contemporary world beyond the boundaries of our social location and its worldview. It will help Christians to explore these questions and others regarding miracles, signs and wonders, and know how to pray. Those familiar with Keener's past volumes will not be surprised by the remarkable level of scholarship in this work. Keener's discussion of New Testament miracles adduces a uniquely--indeed staggeringly--extensive collection of comparative material.

I want to give a brief overview and review of the book and, along with that overview, give some further thoughts and reflections about the topic of miracles in the modern world. With gentle humour, and surprising twists and turns, this is just the book we need in these difficult times. I truly believe these words come from our Guardian and have way more guidance in these words than anything! Tim Stafford puts the right person at the center of miracle stories: not the charismatic leader through whom miracles come, nor the person who is healed, but God himself. So, second, if such a supernatural being exists, it must interact with the world for miracles to be possible.

As a Christian, I am not totally shut off from other spiritual books; I do not consider myself so dogmatic as to not consider other ways to grow more spiritual. The Book of Miracles carries many reports of unnatural colors seen in the skies being followed by a catastrophe. I don’t know about you, but whenever I read accounts of healings and miracles, part of me think, “Man, I wish I could experience or witness something like that! The only chance Eponine has of rescuing her is to join the Miracle Court and steal back what was taken. It is hard to sit with the reality that it didn’t; to have watched her suffer unto death, yet still believe that God heals and does all of the miraculous things you describe.
