You can build a NAS that competes with much more expensive options, and it looks like something from a sci-fi movie. Since Raspberry Pi 4 comes with a 1Gbps Ethernet, I decided to take advantage of it and create a reporting system in NodeRED that will monitor and report when the ISP is not keeping the contractual agreements. This script is very similar in feel to those used in the Argon ONE cases and it gives us granular control of the included case fan via the argon-config tool. I’m just trying to install the scripts, however installation process hangs, apparently while starting argononed.

A long time ago, I read and article about air flow from fans in a case with a obstructed air inlet/outlet… the gist of the article was… if the barrier is around 1 hub diameter away from the obstruction, the airflow was improved. This time around the case is more complicated as the board is deep inside the case with heat-generating drives mounted on top of the board. Will probably back the new one - hell, it'd mean I could get rid of the ever-annoying Helios64 and clownshoes Armbian. Seems to be quite a bit faster but some things changed like the USB ports being switched, which makes it impossible to use it with the EON because it would mean using the HDDs with a USB2. If you want your home server not only capable of huge storage and Raspberry Pi performance, but also as something great to look at, this is for you.
