The world building is amazing, the artwork and physical design is simply stunning and the characters are well developed. However, my grown up kids were coming over on the weekend for my birthday and I said I'd have a better idea after playing it with them. Until the end of this round, after a mouse performs an action, that mouse may spend 1 cheese to perform 1 additional action.

As is true with any trend in any media, once the market has become over-saturated, that is when you can really identify its weaknesses. You might appreciate the books if you liked the show, but yeah it ends with the advent of war so anything further would be completely made up. When you complete a scenario, you get to read another chunk of text from the storybook to find out what happens next—and to set up the next part of the adventure. This is because my boyfriend has a lot of nostalgia for stories like Watership Down , and this is one of the few games that he gets excited to play with me.This is because, for all of the storybook friendliness and the delightful design of the miniatures, Mice and Mystics can be punishing, tough and occasionally a slog to finish a level.

Another similar game, Arcadia Quest, shares much in common with both this game, Descent, and HeroQuest.Each game presents a new chapter in the story driven campaign that has the players battling rats, cockroaches and spiders. If you can get past the luck driven nature of the dice and the lighter combat rules, I think there is a lot of fun to be had here. The Cheese System allows players to horde the crumbs of precious cheese they find on their journey and use it to bolster their mice with grandiose new abilities and overcome seemingly insurmountable odds. Unlike other dungeon crawlers, you can’t simply crawl to another tile if the battle is starting to go against you, as the the rules require a complete clean up before you can move on. The face of the clock is used to show wedges of a round cheese that once the sections are completed, will trigger an additional spawn of unwanted creatures.
