About this deal

However, this is not the case for Felix Pink, who has taken on the task of being an Exiteer: one who assists others wishing to commit suicide because of their incredible pain and suffering. A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy.

After urging Amanda to leave so he can take the blame, Felix awaits the police before remembering his dog at home. This book also employs a pet peeve of mine, in which conflicts come from misunderstandings that could be immediately cleared up by the characters just talking to each other. Perfect for fans of Richard Osman's The Thursday Murder Club , this is the page-turning, twisty, and often hilarious new crime novel from bestselling author Belinda Bauer. Felix hears the voice of his late wife, Margaret, in his head, he still misses her and its to her advice he turns to when he needs to make critical decisions. Exit grabbed me with its premise of assisted suicide gone wrong, but it didn't quite turn out the way I was hoping.Methodical, unadventurous, creature of habit Felix Pink is a widower struggling to carry on after the death of his wife.

I really liked Felix and became really fond of him as he’d remind you of your grandfather and he could be very witty when he wanted to be. That said, once I was able to take my feelings around that issue and put them into a little compartment in the scattered library of my mind, I was able to enjoy the story, particularly as the plot picked up. Independent thought was not required and flair was frowned upon – and Felix had been more than capable of not bringing them to the table. Part of my detachment from this story is that I never connected with the characters, in particular Felix.

So Felix ends up being on the run from the police, as he also tries to figure out just how things went so wrong.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This intriguing, tender, funny and sometimes (in the best possible way) farcical novel about life and death is a sheer delight. Unfortunately, as they sit in vigil with their latest client, the man fumbles the mask so badly that Amanda violates protocol and assists it onto his face. S. Geological Survey, leading to “immediate suspension of the National Volcano Early Warning System,” and there’s always someone around looking to monetize the natural disaster and the sasquatch-y onslaught that follows. I would definitely recommend this book and at some point I want to go back and read some earlier books by this author.Whereas I loved the premise of this, and the idea was such a unique concept, it was a little too slow moving for me. Except on his most recent mission, something goes wrong and Felix finds himself on the run for murder.

While not really my cup of tea, I would enjoy sharing tea with Felix, who charmed me immediately, as I enjoyed the chapters with him much more so than those spent with the actual detective, Calvin. This is one of those reads where you should go in knowing as little as possible about the plot so I’ll quit while I’m ahead. Felix is charming but doesn’t realise it, hes old fashioned, old school, honourable, honest and a real gentleman. People helping you to kill yourself, the concept sounds sinister and incredibly different from what I normally read, however, this book was not what I really expected to hear. But on an outing with new partner Amanda, a normally smooth operation quickly turns disastrous when the duo accidentally helps the wrong patient to die. A story that is unswerving in its character-based narrative, its contemporary nature makes the reader face up to the obscene realities of death and grief.
