The project includes a photo essay-style collection of aerial photography produced by Arthus-Bertrand, in which the photographer captured vistas of Earth from various aircraft during a ten-year period.

The project consists of vernacular photographs, new captures and ephemera to tell a story and investigate a childhood mystery. I would like to wax lyrical about more of the images in this book of books (the fruit markets of Mombasa!Since the images are huge (most of them spanning two pages of this colossal book) and the pictures are of landscapes with lots of details, I expected to find pictures with excellent details. SO much color and detail in each picture, you are left turning the pages faster and faster to devour all the images. Nearly all the materials preserved at The Bob Dylan Center are unique, previously unavailable, and, in many cases, even previously unknown. At the conclusion of the first decade of the 21st century, the series of public exhibitions have been seen by over 200 million people.

I don't have the quote handy right now, but I would like to end my review paraphrasing Malcolm Lowry: "You like this garden? The Earth from the Air is the bestselling and most popular book of aerial photography ever published. Few of us have the opportunity to view the Earth from such a lofty perspective, as though God himself were observing the great beauty, patterns and drama of our daily lives. His work centered on people living ''outside of time'' with traditional jobs and skills that had been passed down through generations. Increasing temperatures and climate change are causing the ice to melt, easing access to this region which may be full of gas and petrol.In our thirst for greater prosperity, are we destroying that which we hold most dear, our Earth, our very lives themselves? And that alluring photogenic quality of poverty never disappoints either - do the denizens of the markets of Ouagadougou know how startlingly gorgeous they all look or are they just scruffing their way through another dreary day with not quite enough food? He has other books, and I recommend checking them also, especially the early African wildlife album, the "metiers francais" series, the agricultural shows and the horse prtraits series.
