I've had a chocolate fondue on several occasions but generally try and avoid it as I would eat it all then lick the pan out. Alongside over fifty new soup recipes, readers will find an exciting range of bean dishes - including home-made baked beans, dal, Israeli falafel and many more - together with a fantastic selection of breads and other garnishes which add a new layer of flavour, texture, substance and colour, and contribute to a wonderful mealtime experience. Alas, as the quantities required grew larger I had to discontinue my "soup works" due to lack of time in the evening to prepare it for the next day, so my soup empire came to an end. I was given this book on my birthday a couple of years ago and have used it many times to make different soups.

I reserve a special amount of despise for companies that cash in on such a simple and cheap product however I tip my hat to New Covent Garden Food co for sharing their recipes, it's up to you to not be so lazy with your cash now.

This book has so many recipes I haven't got near to making all of them but the 150 or so that I have made have been excellent. There is a section at the back of the book for your own notes on each recipes which is a brilliant idea, but, unfortunately, my copy has already been written in, which I was very disappointed in, but still a great book. Repackaged in keeping with New Covent Garden's latest branding, the original Book of Soups is being relaunched to coincide with the publication of the new title, Soup in Season .This book is a great size, has good and varied content and even the idiot it has been bought for could not fail to produce a pan of tasty, fresh and healthy soup. Had a request from Conor for a meaty soup next time so today’s lunch will be the creamy chicken soup from the New Covent Garden soup book.
