About this deal

You can see from the picture above that the doublet finishes just below the waist and there is a fancy cord belt tied over it to hold the decorated leather purse.

Join us for our festive version of our monthly Trust10 trail run on Sunday 22 December at Blickling Estate. Although the monarch may no longer reside at the Tower, the Crown Jewels and many other invaluable objects still do, therefore its importance is still relevant today. The day was declared a public holiday and pageants, fetes, and parties were held in glorious May sunshine.Edward III (1327-1377) celebrated his Golden Jubilee in 1376 with a spectacular weeklong joust at London’s Smithfield beginning with a magnificent procession from the Tower of London accompanied by trumpeters. Since this beautiful palace is only about ten minutes drive from where I live and the Tudor period is one of my favourite eras, I was delighted to be asked by Dollshouse and Miniature Scene Magazine (DHMS) to provide three miniature doll-dressing ‘How To’ projects for them.

Since this portrait was painted before she married Henry, she is wearing more sombre colours than I have used for the doll. These shoes were very flat and could be worn either with or without a strap across the instep and were often slashed to reveal a different coloured leather through the slashes.A few minutes of rolling, scrunching and hand stitching later, Henry’s annoying codpiece was annoying no more! In celebration of Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, we look back at the history of royal jubilee celebrations through the ages. The ultimate devilish demon this Halloween, Mephistopheles is a servant of Lucifer in Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus, and you don’t get any badder than that. Of course, Anne ended up losing her head years later, but at the time, their romance was the talk of England.

Henry’s hair style is typical of the very early Tudor era, worn long and straight; very different from the much shorter styles of the mid-Henrician era that we are more familiar with. Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s Emilia lit a flame in the Globe Theatre in 2018 with its sensational portrayal of the dark lady of the sonnets, Emilia Bassano. Whether you want to go out with friends or dress up the little ones, we have costumes for every occasion!Subtle changes in fashion over the few years between this lady and Anne Boleyn would make for an interesting project for DHMS readers to try. These long sleeves were typical of the late Medieval and early Tudor era and eventually developed into the wider, turned back sleeves of the middle Tudor period. The breath-taking Jacobean mansion and ancient yew hedges sit at the heart of a magnificent garden and historic park in the beautiful Bure meadows.
