About this deal

Desert Rosewood is a warm spicy and cozy fragrance, mainly dominant by patchouli, mandarin and benzoin notes with woodsy accord. I really like this sublime zesty opening of fresh, slightly bitter mandarin complimented with rich earthy patchouli and also cardamom. Transitioning into the dry-down it gets more spicy, I really get vibes of ginger and cinnamon, also a slight rose and cumin nuance. The dry-down seem to be dominated by warn benzoin which gives a a bit of powderiness, but it stays resinous and retains that spicy zestiness and bitterness. The scent have a really good performance and staying power which is always a plus. Desert Rosewood is easily my favorite from Goldfield & Banks line-up, probably because of having a lot of my favorite notes and being most unique to my nose. I already used almost all of the sample, I think it is a full bottle worthy. But wait! It’s not that type of rosewood which perfumers use, with its floral, slightly rose-like odour: that’s from the Aniba rosaeodora tree, better known as Brazilian rosewood. It takes a massive amount of the tree’s wood to produce the oil: each tree’s said to yield just 1%, by weight, of oil to wood. With such huge amounts of timber felled to extract teensy qualities of oil, it’s no wonder that Brazilian rosewood trees – which are grown in the rainforests of Brazil, Mexico and Peru – are now protected, under CITES (the convention which safeguards endangered flora and fauna). It’s also on the official list of endangered flora of Brazil. So: how come rosewood still turns up on ingredients list…? Clever perfumers know that other woods deliver similar effects, and can be used to replace its richness. Desert Rosewood is classified by the company as a woody, liqueur, gourmand, and mystical scent. When applied, it smells like mandarin jelly, still warm, prepared with pieces of cinnamon and cloves, and also brings some camphorated nuances. These nuances disappear, shortly after, and there is a mixture of light woods without of humidity aspect, besides the great presence of benzoin. I believe it's wearable everywhere but I love to spray it after shower, before sleep. there are many perfumes I like but there are just a few I'd like to wear for bed, there are even fewer ones that don't make my husband get headache(he likes perfume but not when he wants to sleep).but when I asked him if this perfume hurts him he said:"oh you're wearing a perfume?it's very nice.I felt our room smells lovely by itself!! it smells like sweet dreams".

For the Hand & Body Wash: How awesome is this? You can shower in your favourite scent before applying it to your body. There will no longer be a clash between the fragrance of your shower and the scent you apply. A luxurious lathering hand and body wash that is paraben free. Suitable for vegan and vegetarians and cruelty free. Maison Christian Dior Collection, the exclusive perfume line of the Dior House, presents its new edition in April 2020 under the name of Oud Rosewood. It seem to be more of a colder weather scent, but I wonder if it would work in a warmer weather, specially in the night time. Rosewood is prized as much for its delicate fragrance, as for its solid wood, but also for its therapeutic virtues. In aromatherapy, the essential oil of rosewood is a powerful ally of the skin. Softening and firming, it brings radiance to the epidermis. It is therefore an excellent natural anti-aging! Thanks to the presence of linalool in its composition, this essence also has antiviral and anti-infectious properties. Its soft and subtle fragrance is also indicated to calm stress and anxiety. So now it was clear, I must have it - also as a reminder, as it looks like USA travel will not be possible as soon as possible... it smells different than any of leather oud, oud ispahan, santal noir, and purple oud. its not a version of any of these fragrances whatsoever. if there are some similarities during the progression of Oud Rosewood to any of those fragrances it is less than 10% similarity , even 5%. its to be expected due to some shared ingredients and being from the same house. Long story short,Rosewood is a heavenly, smooth, cozy, comforting, ageless beauty in my book. it's wearable anywhere, anytime though I prefer it's cuddly, delightful, warm sweetness in cooler days and nights.it's a very difficult to find perfume where I live so I feel like I am the only proud owner of this beauty. Such a soft, delicate fragrance at the same time, you can clearly feel the oud note (which is present in the top note and always resonates nicely until the end) and the durability is also enormous, has really impressed me very much! Madagascar vanilla that is slightly smoky, definitely not a cheap drugstore vanilla with a subliminal musk and rose - I am in fragrance heaven! It was paradise, my husband was extremely patient and went everywhere with me - I think he even liked it a little bit...We were at Penhaligons and of course Bergdorf Goodman could not be missing. But in the end I flew home without new perfume! None that I wanted to afford laughed at me that hard. It was great to test everything, so I thought I would get that at home too. I need to get a bottle of this, it's just incredible to my nose. One of the best amber fragrances I've ever smelled. I would say that if you love amber, you can safely blind buy but there is no such thing as a safe blind buy. On my skin, this just works and smells incredible but it may not on your own. So, always sample before you buy. It may not be for everyone but I think everyone should at least try to smell and sample it, at least once in their lives.

I don't normally blind-buy perfume, but I ran into a large bottle of this at Marshalls, and after reading the notes here I decided to buy it. And I'm glad I did! The opening is a slightly sharp but bright bergamot blast, which to me is just fine since that's one of my favorite notes. The dry down mellows it with vanilla and Amber, with the rosewood-ish note lingering underneath. It also has a nice powdery tone to it that spreads and softens as it stays on the skin. All in all, it's a pretty fragrance. Not terribly original - and I couldn't detect a real rosewood scent- but it's still very pleasant. I'll enjoy wearing it.

Brazilian Rosewood. I must admit the notes here have me perplexed. I might be the only one, but I get a Brazilian Rosewood from this scent: dusty rose, soapy woods, powdery sweetness. The dusty rose colour of the juice and the name accurately represent the scent imho. Admittedly my bottle is from somewhere between 2006-08, but it still smells the same to me today as when I got it. The Brazilian Rosewood accord has reminders for me of other scents with Brazilian Rosewood: Organza Indecence Givenchy, Presence d'une Femme Montblanc & Midnight Fleur Nest. Has above average performance for year round wear.

As someone said below, Rosewood doesn't shout, it whispers. It's a perfume that carries itself with quiet confidence, and one which gives the best hugs. I am going to wear this for the rest of the week to give myself a proper chance to get to know it, because I do love the way I smell right now. I'm just not sure yet that it's very 'me'. Oud - I think it’s safe to say Oud Rosewood uses little to no real oud. The oud is a synthetic oud, but it is done much better than what I’m used to smelling from designers. At the drydown, the oud note smells kind of like a bandaid, but it’s much more pleasant than the medicinal bandaid-type oud you find in some Montales. Rosewood is an uncomplicated, clean musky woods fragrance. I have worn it to work quite often and received a compliment from a male customer that said it smelt like a soothing, woodsy spa-scent. It's a fragrance with no frills.OR opens with a warm raspberry, a rather acidic quince and lots and lots of animalic funk. At some times it smells more of leather than even LO does. This opening slowly subsides and leaves a strong, woody and leathery dry down without end. Something bitter and snobbish that only someone like a sommelier would love and average people pretend to like because an expert says that it is tasteful or elegant or whatever.
