Match report Minehead V VPR Eagles and VPR Hawks

Minehead took a trip up to Bridgewater to take on VPR Eagles and VPR Hawks. It was a cold morning but at least it stayed dry for us. Minehead had the kick off and as Minehead seem to do we started slowly with George having to make a couple of smart saves with his feet. After about 5 minutes Minehead got in to the game a bit more but still found it tough going with a very muddy and heavy pitch.

With very few chances for Minehead in the first half a couple of subs were made that put George up front and Luke in goal. Right away Minehead got on the attack passing the ball around a lot better and having more shots at goal from Isaac and Haydon going wide.

With the game looking to be heading towards a goalless draw with 6 minutes to go Dylan played a through ball into George who finished a 1 on 1 chance for the opening goal of the game. Erin and Luke were breaking down any attack from VPR Eagles and with a few minutes left Owen come off the bench to make his doubt for Minehead. The game finished with a great win for the blues.

Man of the match: George

Minehead’s second game of the morning was against Bridgewater VPR Hawks.

7 changes were made to the team for this game to give every player match time. Minehead started well with Will upfront and Owen making his first start in the middle for the blues. Some great defending and good leadership was shown by Minehead’s captain Luke in this game. Minehead battled hard to get the first goal with Will and Emily having chances, but the blues were unlucky to find themselves 2 down at half time.

Second half the blues battled hard to get back in the game but were again unlucky with Bryn hitting the post. With the last kick of the game Jake got his first goal for Minehead with a low drive in to the bottom corner.
