Minehead U10s football teams played four matches against Bridgwater Wolves on Saturday 1st December. Minehead started the morning slowly and even solid defence from Riley Wild and several long range shots by Tyler Hetherington couldn't prevent Bridgwater Wolves scoring an early goal. The second half saw Bridgwater Wolves continue to attack with Will “The Cat” Sealby making several saves, before Bridgwater managed to make their pressure count, sending them on to a first game win 5-0.
The second game saw Minehead start the game strongly with an early goal from Bryn Graddon, before a great passing move saw George Hall finish an excellent team goal. Dylan Newby scored Minehead’s third with a good volley just before half time. Bridgwater Wolves tried to get back into the game at the start of the second half. A good save by Emily Davenport kept them out, before Dylan scored his second goal direct from a freekick. Minehead’s best goal came soon afterwards, Owen Hardick winning the ball back in midfield before passing to Bryn who released George Hall to score. Haiden Griffiths scored the final goal of the game to win 6-0.
The third game saw Minehead score the first goal, the midfield releasing Tyler Hetherington who ran at their defence, before shooting into the bottom corner. The second half saw Bridgwater weather initial chances from Kyle Oulds and Jack Kelly, before winning a corner and although Will Sealby saved the first shot he could not keep out the rebound for Bridgwater to level. Minehead recovered from this setback. Harry Hauxwell, Tyler and Kyle combining well for Kyle to score. Kyle then followed up with a great poachers goal, slotting home the rebound after the Bridgwater keeper had made a great save to keep out Isaac Searle’s long-range shot. Goals continued to flow in the game, Bridgwater scoring from a penalty before Isaac, showing his pace to outstrip the defence, fired home. Bridgewater managed to get a goal back but Minehead held on to win 4-3 in a very exciting game.
The final game saw Minehead having to defend with Owen Hardick and Erin Strong getting in good tackles to break up attacks, before Bridgwater won a penalty and took the lead. Minehead created the next chance with Dylan Newby showing a good touch in the centre of the field, releasing Owen Hardick down the wing who passed through to Bryn Graddon to level the score. Minehead continued to push but after winning a corner were caught on the break for Bridgwater to take the lead. The second half saw Minehead press for an equaliser but with the Bridgwater goalkeeper having a fine game Minehead could not get the equalising goal that their play deserved, the final score ending 2-1 to Bridgwater.
Minehead players of the morning were Bryn Graddon, Harry Hauxwell and Kyle Oulds.
