Minehead under 15s travelled to Tiverton on Sunday to face Moors Youth and came away with a convincing 0-12 victory.
Minehead started strongly and soon had the home side pinned back in their own half. The first chance fell to Olly Prescott after Finley Foreman played a nice through ball into the box but the keeper saved well. Ben Summersgill then set up Russell Lindley but he shot wide, a corner floated in by Olly Prescott was headed over by Ben Summersgill then a good strike by Charlie Disney on the right was also wide of the mark. Minehead’s back four of Lewis Leach, Riley Merrick, Ajay Shopland and Callum Dewar were able to push up, feed the midfield and keep the pressure firmly in the home sides half. Archie Dascombe and Finley Foreman were controlling the middle of the park and were linking up well with Olly Prescott on the left and Charlie Disney on the right. Russell Lindley came close to opening the scoring but blasted over after getting on the end of an Olly Prescott cross. Olly Prescott saw his long range effort go wide of the post then some good link up play by Ajay Shopland and Archie Dascombe put Finley Foreman through but his shot was also saved. Olly Prescott then played a teasing ball into the box and after a goal mouth scramble it was finally cleared. All the pressure finally paid off when Archie Dascombe made a penetrating run out of midfield, played in Ollie Prescott who beat the keeper at his near post and Minehead went in 0-1 at half time. Minehead came out full of confidence after the break and a great move involving Archie Dascombe, Finley Foreman and Ben Summersgill put substitute Tyler High through who finished well with a fine strike to the top corner for 0-2. Ajay Shopland combined well with Tyler High on the left wing and his cross was parried out for a corner which Olly Prescott whipped in and Lewis Leach made it 0-3 with a great headed goal. Tyler High and Ajay Shopland were again involved in Minehead’s fourth when Shopland’s looping shot from way out on the left wing beat the keeper who was off his line. They were also involved in the fifth goal after some good passing with Archie Dascombe and Finley Foreman who slotted it home following a good run into the box. Frankie Smith, another substitute also got onto the score sheet with another headed goal from an Olly Prescott cross as Minehead went 0-6 up. Minehead made it 0-8 after Tyler High whipped in a great ball from a free kick and Man of the Match Finley Foreman finished with a fine header. Frankie Smith got his hat trick following some great play on the right wing by Olly Prescott who crossed into the box, Will Summersgill got a foot to it for Smith to finish from close range for 0-9. Ben Bloys had very little to do in the Minehead goal apart from the odd counter attack but was there when called upon. Finley Foreman also got his hat trick making it 0-10 with a neat finish after Olly Prescott played him through. Olly Prescott got his second and Minehead’s eleventh with a good finish after getting on the end of a Tyler High cross who made it 0-12 just before the end with a lovely chip after some good link up play with Lewis Leach and Finley Foreman.
