About this deal

Okay, now that I'm among only those who are in the know, I feel like I can freely gush. How amazing was that reveal?! I usually have terrible book memory, but I'm certain I will remember that reveal for the rest of my life. It wasn't just what it was, but also how it was executed. Not only did I not see the twist coming, but I was so surprised I stared open-mouthed at my book and reread it multiple times to make sure my brain could comprehend the complete mind bend of what I had just experienced. Theo is gaining information about what happened in the past, but he is also questioning his own abilities. Can he really get Alicia talking? What are the professional boundaries of a psychotherapist? There was a little bit of internal monologue with Theo, but it wasn't boring or drawn out unnecessarily but raised some deep questions, causing the reader to think beyond just the superficial mystery/thriller. There was also some mention of art and its deeper meaning. It helped to create added depth to this book. Nominations Announced for the 29th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®". Screen Actors Guild. January 11, 2023 . Retrieved February 4, 2023. The surgery began and Alex showed up in place of the anesthesiologist. He administered the drugs that Jessie requested that was actually truth serum. They asked Malloche the location of the drugs that were hidden throughout the city and they were given three locations. Alex was leaving when one of Malloche's men recognized him and started chasing him around the hospital. Alex got the jump on him and got away. Alex got shot but got a good hit in on Malloche's man and wounded him. He went into the room where Malloche had poisoned the lab personnel. He found some acid and when the guy got into the room, Alex threw the acid in his face. It destroyed his face and Alex also shot him in the head to make sure he was dead. He got out of the hospital and they set in motion plans to locate the drug, soman. They found and disarmed the three drug bombs. Emily had slipped a note to Alex that gave a description of Malloche's man outside the hospital and now they were looking for him.

I have to say, books of this genre are always billed as astounding and surprising when most of the time they just feel contrived and silly with no payoff at the end. But wow, does this book deliver! It's so darn satisfying to read such a compulsively addicting story, with twists done right that left me absolutely speechless. Overall, yes, yes, and yes! This book is phenomenal if you haven't read it already! Definitely worthy of a reread. Overall, I can see how it could be a deeply affecting read. But the constant jumping between the narrative meant I couldn't get fully invested in the story. 3 stars :)From Alicia's diary, we learn that Theo is the one who gave her the morphine. Theo knew from her story that she must have recognized him (she told an inaccurate story to test him). The night of Gabriel's death, Theo hadn't known about her traumatic history of feeling uncared for, and didn't know his stunt would result in her killing Gabriel. Later, Theo had taken for her case to genuinely try to treat her (he felt guilty about his involvement), but when Theo realized she recognized him, he had to kill her. The book ends with the police having found her diary and showing up at Theo's house (to ask him about it and presumably to arrest him). Goldberg, Lesley (October 7, 2021). Michael Ondaatje’s The English Patient was the book that first did it for me. On a rainy Saturday, Michael Ondaatje was on the Podcast introducing his new novel Warlight. It just felt the right time to do the long-overdue catchup on his best-known book. I pretty much finished in one sitting, and was totally blown away.

What follows after the second iteration of the line is this, 'But between them lay a treacherous and complex journey. It was a very wide world'.

It is true that those who have read a number of twisty mysteries will likely guess the truth, but I think there's enough goodness here to make it enjoyable anyway. Or it was for me at least.

Dark psychological suspense is my favorite genre and books like this one are exactly the reason why. Cast & Crew

Alan continues to hallucinate having meaningful talks with Charlie while sharpening an ointment tube to a blade. In a session, he says to Sam that he has to find meaning to his life and has to build relationships, and as a first step he has to rebuild his relationship with Mary, his ex-wife. When Sam complains that it doesn't work, Alan confronts him by saying that the real object of killing is not his victims or their actions but his father. Sam takes the message wrongly and decides to kill his father. First of all, let me start with what I liked in this book. The writing style of the author is suited for writing a thriller like this. He succeeded in making me glued to the book even after the glaring innuendos that were disparaging to the core kept me exasperated. He worked out the plot twist well. This might be the reason why almost every friend of mine in Goodreads love this book. I must confess now itself that if I was not a Doctor and I didn't know how the healthcare system works, I would also have given this book four or five stars. The author had unabashedly mentioned some things about Psychotherapy in which some are true in some rare cases while some have unfortunately gone entirely wrong. The author has no right to generalise about the health sector as a whole based on some scrupulous activities done by some individuals. You can't even see such a shady Psychiatric institu In The Patient, Palmer has hypothesized ARTIE (Assisted Robotic Tissue Incision and Extraction), a technology that will assist surgeons in the removal of previously inoperable tumors and crafted a high voltage suspense thriller set in the arena of the neurosurgery operating rooms of EMMC, Eastern Massachusetts Medical Center. When Carl Gilbride, the tyrannical head of the department overrules the decision of Jessie Copeland, his finest surgeon, and successfully uses ARTIE to save the life of a world class Olympic gymnast, a veritable firestorm of publicity results attracting the attention of other surgeons, scientists, foundations, grant-giving authorities and dying patients desperate to get in line for a life-saving operation with this new technology.
