About this deal

Of the five golds, my favorites are Rub n Buff Antique Gold and European Gold, but that’s just my preference. I reviewed every shade of gold Rub ‘n Buff, and I’m sharing the results—along with my technique for getting a perfect aged patina effect! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve used this stuff, but let’s just say any time you need to paint something metallic and actually make it look like real gold, silver, or copper, Rub n Buff is the most convincing one out of any finish you could use. Like you said, it is perfect for bringing out details and for adding a touch of glam here and there. Rub onto clean, dry, or previously painted surfaces or on post-fired ceramics with a finger or soft cloth, then gently buff to a beautiful luster.

Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. I have been using antique gold but it is much darker than I want to use on restoring an old chandelier, this blog has enabled me to choose the correct gold for this project, thanks for the info much appreciated! There is a little see-through with the black paint – multiple coats of product would make it more opaque.Since it’s a wax-based product, to give it a more durable finish, you can buff your finished item with a soft cloth. Formulated from Carnauba waxes, fine metallic powders, and select pigments for a finish no paint can duplicate. I carry all of the 9 currently available colors as well as the Ruby and Patina that have been discontinued.

I brushed this mirror below with Antique Gold, which is more yellowy and brighter than European Gold. You can literally rub it onto a hard surface, and gently buff away the excess wax to create a shiny luster. I knew Rub ‘n Buff was the answer, and I was finally able to carve out some time last weekend to make it happen. The Harris family owners and staff of Gordon Harris are extremely proud that their business has not only survived four decades but grown from humble beginnings to become NZ’s largest and best known art supplies specialist. You have more control over the finish at the end because you can buff it out until you get your desired look.

European Gold – The least saturated, cooler-toned of all of the Rub ‘n Buff golds, this shade is more of a champagne hue and is best if you want just a slightly gold tinted color. The spray paint I used looks horrendous and so I have just spent a half hour reading about rub and buff and all the various gold colors when I stumbled upon your blog.

There’s this stuff in a little tube that really could live up to the marketing hype of “miracle cream” but it’s not a face product. TJ that is so weird because I have used it on the metal around the top of the chandeliers I have purchased and on the metal arms. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places.

Whether you are restoring cherished antiques, stenciling, frame finishing, antiquing, experimenting with home decor or restoring treasured items, Ruff n' Buff will produce vibrant, reliable results! We’ve lived with them for almost a year and I liked them, but I wasn’t in love with the brass finish. I was positive this post had no application in my life but now I'm looking around to finds ways to incorporate this! Rub n Buff doesn’t require a primer, but it does help to sand any smooth surfaces first to give it “grip”.
